about

Indeed ‘joy has come home’ when such a rare and pleasurable moment presents an honest, well-preserved talent! Ayo-Dele determine a magnificent style and sound all her own

October 12th 2012 Ayo-Dele’s debut album launch of Forever Becoming. The historically fascinating venue of choice is the, Tabernacle, Notting Hill, which in its present incarnation has played host to other leading talent including Adele and Corrine Bailey-Rae.

On the night Ayo-Dele (Yoruba for ‘joy has come home’) will serenade the expected capacity crowd with songs in both English and the Nigerian language, Yoruba.

Ayo-Dele introduces a sound that you have never heard before but will certainly want to hear over and over again. The independent artist is vocally gripping and provides all the warmth and sincerity markedly absent in much of today’s mainstream sound.

Forever Becoming is dualism at its finest; where the rich, lucid traditions of Nigerian storytelling and musical influences from the UK blend to evoke emotions that every woman can relate with. The artist explains the inspiration behind the album and how it manages to speak with both a singular yet plural voice: “It's about me! ...but could also be about any woman. Essentially it's a woman’s journey and the discovery of self, faith love, and hope.”
It is this particular dualism that gives the album its rich sense of proximity to every woman’s past, present and future.
